Halton Region COVID-19 paediatric vaccination clinics do not offer the Pfizer vaccine for children six months to under 5 years of age.There is no preferential recommendation between Moderna bivalent COVID-19 boosters or Pfizer bivalent COVID-19 boosters for individuals 18 years of age and older. Halton Region COVID-19 clinics offer age-appropriate mRNA vaccines.The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) continues to recommend mRNA vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna) for all eligible groups (external link). All COVID-19 vaccines authorized in Canada are proven safe and effective.People over the age of 65 and certain people at higher risk of severe COVID-19 illness (external link) are strongly recommended to get their booster this spring season.Booster doses help restore protection from COVID-19 and emerging variants. In most cases, doses are recommended 8 weeks (56 days) after a COVID-19 infection or previous dose.Note: Paediatric Pfizer for children 6 months to under 5 years of age requires 3 doses. Those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised (external link) are recommended to get a third dose to complete their primary series.
